PlayNow.com and the law

Legal gambling in British Columbia is limited to what the provincial government operates. In the province, PlayNow.com is the single lawful online gambling site, and BCLC runs it. The IGCO, or Independent Gambling Control Office, took over as regulator from GPEB on April 13, 2026. In its view, every other online gambling site that takes BC players is operating illegally in BC.

Casinos, bingo and online play share one legal age: 19. Treasure Cove Casino & Bingo runs under BCLC policies, procedures and standards. PlayNow.com is run by BCLC itself. Every other site accepting BC players is outside the law here.

What a private site does not have

None of the British Columbia protections apply to a private online casino. PlayNow limits do not apply there. Game Break self-exclusion also stops short of it, and complaints about it have no route to the provincial regulator.

Game Break covers casinos and PlayNow.com, not private sites. People enrol in person at any casino or bingo hall with government-issued photo ID. Four lengths are offered: 6 months, and 1, 2 or 3 years. After the choice is made, the length stays fixed. Excluding from casinos also excludes from PlayNow.com for the same period.

How the Field Sheet is paid

The Field Sheet works as an independent guide and is not a casino, nor is it the casino's own site. No bets are taken on the Field Sheet, and it holds no reader accounts. The home page is the sole carrier of paid links, and an Ad label marks every one. Each sits in one of three places: the menu holds a button, one block follows the opening screen, and another closes the page near its bottom.

The three share one destination, a private online casino partner. The Field Sheet earns a commission from this partner, which may change. It is not PlayNow.com, and Treasure Cove Casino & Bingo does not operate it.

Questions from the field

Is any private online casino legal in BC?

No private site is legal here. Only one online gambling site is legal in BC: PlayNow.com. Every other site taking BC players operates illegally in BC, the IGCO states.

Does Game Break block private sites?

Game Break does not reach private sites. It covers casinos and PlayNow.com. Complaints about a private site cannot go to the provincial regulator.

Does Treasure Cove run an online casino?

The casino's published online game is Virtual Bingo. It streams from the hall on Thursdays at 6 PM, for BC residents aged 19 or older. People in Game Break cannot play it or receive prizes. Details are on treasurecovecasino.com.

What is the reason for Ad links on the home page?

Ad links are how the Field Sheet is paid. The partner behind all of these links is one and the same: a private online casino. It pays a commission, it is not PlayNow.com, and that partner may change.
