ID at the door

Guests must be at least 19, the age at which British Columbia permits gambling. At the door, each guest presents valid government photo ID and one further piece of ID.

Starting June 26, 2023, anyone who walks into a casino in B.C. presents photo ID from a government. Security scans that ID and compares it with a list of people not allowed inside, including Game Break enrolees. Personal information on admitted guests is not kept by the system.

Photo ID that qualifies covers a driver's licence from B.C. or North America, the B.C. Services Card, a BCID card, or a passport, Canadian or international. A permanent resident card counts too, as does the Secure Certificate of Indian Status card. Membership cards that First Nations, Metis or Inuit bands issue are also accepted.

Door checklist

All five posted conditions are met. Entry may still be refused for any reasonable cause.

House rules

Three groups are not admitted: people who appear intoxicated, people wearing clothing or accessories with gang-related graphics, and people enrolled in Game Break. Game Break enrolment is checked when ID is scanned at the door. Outside alcohol, drugs and weapons are not allowed inside. Taking photos, filming or live streaming without authorization is not allowed anywhere on the premises.

No formal dress code is published. The clothing rule that does appear concerns gang-related graphics, not style or formality. Guests unsure about a specific item can call Guest Services at 250-561-2421 before the visit.

The Encore card

The Guest Services desk sits to the left of the entrance doors. The Encore rewards card is issued there, at the same desk. It earns points on slot machines and on table games.

Redemption happens at a slot machine, with the card inserted and a 4-digit PIN entered. Without the PIN, the card alone does not release points. Unredeemed points expire after a year. Guest Services answers at 250-561-2421 or toll-free at 1-866-561-2421, and the same desk houses the lottery centre.

Tickets and prizes

The casino's over 500 slot machines are all ticket-in, ticket-out. Three Ticket Redemption Machines turn tickets into cash, and an ATM is on site. Slot attendants in navy blue uniforms pay out jackpots, exchange bills and refill machines.

Lottery prizes are cashed at the lottery centre in the Guest Services desk, up to $24,999. Tickets of $2,000 or more are validated Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Validation takes 2 pieces of government-issued photo ID showing a recent photo, date of birth and signature.

Field notes

  • Entry is refused to anyone who appears intoxicated, wears gang-related graphics or is enrolled in Game Break.
  • Lottery tickets of $2,000 or more need 2 pieces of government-issued photo ID again at validation, even after the ID check at the door.

Questions from the field

What ID is needed to get into the casino?

The minimum age is 19, and each guest needs valid photo ID from a government plus a second piece of ID. Photo ID that qualifies covers a driver's licence from B.C. or North America, a BCID card, the B.C. Services Card and a passport, whether Canadian or international.

Is there a dress code?

No formal dress code is published. The clothing rule that does exist concerns gang-related graphics: guests wearing clothing or accessories with them are not admitted.

Can guests take photos inside?

Without authorization, no one may photograph, film or live stream. This rule is listed with the other entry conditions.

When do Encore points expire?

Points that are not redeemed expire after a year. Redemption takes place at a slot machine with the Encore card and a 4-digit PIN.
